Da Hong Pao Rock Oolong
大红袍 dà hóng páo "Big Red Robe" is the flagship oolong from the historic Wuyi Mountain tea production area. Its name is so ubiquitous with the genre of rock oolong (a classic, aromatic, strip-shaped charcoal roasted tea) that much of what is sold as Da Hong Pao these days is actually a blend of varietals derived from various cultivars.
While the harvesting of original Da Hong Pao motherbushes in the core scenic park has been forbidden for the last 20 years or so, various cultivars derived from cuttings from these bushes have been bred and selectively propagated. This Da Hong Pao is one of those, derived from what has now become known as the 奇丹 qí dān "purebreed" strain.
Expert processing combines with excellent heirloom characteristics to make this Qidan Da Hong Pao quite special.
This is loose leaf tea sold in 1 oz bags, ~28.5 grams, containing at least 5-6 long sessions worth of tea.
