Huang Da Cha Big Yellow Tea
A more meaty, rustic version of the more famous and refined Huoshan Huang Ya, one of the remaining handful of historic yellow tea varietals of China.
Yellow tea, similar in production to green tea yet experiencing a risky covering step that muffles aromatic and mellows the flavor before the leaves are dried, is a disappearing craft due to its difficulty to produce. Requiring small-batch attention, demanding higher prices, and only finished well after the goldrush of early spring tea purchases, true yellow tea is hard to come by.
This leafier, stemmier Huoshan yellow from Anhui produces a bold, nutty, tea soup chock full of flavor with a character some find similar to barley tea or Japanese Hojicha.
This is loose leaf tea sold in 1 oz bags, ~28.5 grams, containing at least 5-6 long sessions worth of tea
