Yunnan Ancient Tree Red

This ancient tree black tea (actually referred to as "red tea" / 红茶 hóng chá in China) comes from native tea trees that are an estimated 100-250 years old in the Nannuo Mountains of southern Yunnan.  

a leafy picking standard of 1 bud - 3 leaves is harvested in the spring, withered, its cell-walls broken via rolling, piled, and then set out to dry in the hot subtropical sun, leaving the natural enzymes responsible for further transformation intact and alive.

This brisk, juicy, and robust red is an intoxicating revisitation of the native bioregion tea after the world's collective tea taste granted primacy to the more oxidized style of red tea.
